About Electing Women Wisconsin

Electing Women Wisconsin (EW-WI) works to convert the intensity and enthusiasm among pro-choice women into Democratic victories this November and beyond. Women candidates rely more heavily on female donors than their male counterparts and EW-WI is creating communities of donors who come together in support of Democratic women running for elected office and who leverage their combined power to impact Wisconsin electoral politics. EW-WI in partnership with Honorary Chair Secretary of State Sarah Godlewski is building a network of donors who are ready to support women candidates the day they launch their campaign, and every day after.

Our Mission

Our Mission

Electing Women Wisconsin gathers like-minded donors to support Democratic women running for public office across the country and in the state of Wisconsin. We exist to both close the gender giving gap in politics and to break down barriers for women running – and winning – in public office.

Our goal is to build a committed network of donors to provide critical support for women candidates when they need it most. Members gather regularly to meet with candidates – incumbents and non-incumbents – in small, intimate settings to discuss politics and policy and to exchange ideas.

Our Work

In 2024, EW-WI is focused on re-electing Sen. Tammy Baldwin and supporting pro-choice Democratic women running in competitive state legislative races. With the energy around women candidates in the 2024 election, and abortion as a pivotal issue in this election, we’ll help turnout for Sen. Baldwin and President Biden. For more than a decade, the Wisconsin Legislature has had the most gerrymandered legislative maps in the country. Due to the historic election of Supreme Court Justice Janet Protasewicz in 2023, the Wisconsin Supreme Court has declared the previous maps unconstitutional and this year, Democrats have a chance to take back the majority in the Assembly and Senate and address the current abysmal 30.3% female representation in the Wisconsin State Legislature.

Our Impact

EW-WI in conjunction with its Steering Committee members will choose which candidates we support, provide briefings for our community on the background of the candidate, overview of the race, and other relevant details, and host and facilitate events for our network to connect with supported candidates. Members of EW-WI will also have access to national calls hosted by the Electing Women Alliance that feature the 2024 candidates our groups support as well as experts in the political arena.

By supporting women candidates in competitive races up and down the ticket, we can make a lasting impact on the future of representation in Wisconsin.

Membership

Membership Overview

Members of Electing Women Wisconsin make an annual financial commitment to support women candidates. That commitment includes a joining fee to the EW-WI political action committee (PAC) to support our operations. Members then make three donations directly to candidates over the course of a year. Direct giving to candidates is the most effective way to support their campaigns. EW-WI will brief members on all candidates, while highlighting specific candidates at each event, so members are able to make informed decisions on who they’d like to support.

Our Leadership

Honorary Chair: Secretary of State Sarah Godlewski

Sarah Godlewski is a fifth-generation Wisconsinite with a strong background in public service and business. She currently serves as Wisconsin’s Secretary of State and is only the third woman to hold this statewide office. From 2019 to 2022, Sarah served as the State Treasurer of Wisconsin, elected after leading a bipartisan effort to preserve the office. As Treasurer, she was committed to enhancing the economic security of Wisconsinites by focusing on homeownership, retirement security, and investing in Wisconsin. Sarah’s political career garnered national recognition during her 2022 U.S. Senate campaign, which prioritized support for working families and reproductive freedom.

Before her public service roles, Sarah co-founded MaSa Partners, a multimillion-dollar investment firm dedicated to socially responsible ventures, and the WE Capital Fund, which supports female entrepreneurs through innovative financing solutions. Her work has been featured nationally.

Since being involved in politics, Sarah has been actively involved in initiatives to support the electoral success of pro-choice women in Wisconsin – advocating for the necessary infrastructure and community support to ensure women have influential roles in decision-making processes.
