It’s wonderful to be connected with you. As ***** may have mentioned/ as you may have heard, we’re currently looking to build a new Electing Women Alliance giving group in *****.
By way of summary, the Electing Women Alliance is a national network of local giving groups that bring women together as a community to support women candidates. Our goal is to inspire intentional, informed giving to increase women’s political leadership. We currently have 16 groups across the country, and over our 10 years of existence, EWA groups have collectively raised $32 million to support women candidates.
Some women’s political organizations recruit. Others train. We fund. But we do it differently, and our unique value is building local communities of informed, educated donors. Electing Women events are small gatherings that allow candidates—incumbents and non-incumbents—to engage in substantive, lively conversation about policy and politics with communities of women across the country.
While women lack representation in Congress, we make 85% of household purchasing and consumer decisions. Yet women only make 37% of political donations. This continues to disadvantage women in office, as women candidates rely more heavily on women donors than their male counterparts. Our goal is to build strong women donor communities in cities across the country all while helping elect more women to the highest levels of office.
