Happy 2025! While we know there will be many challenges this year, we are ready for all that is ahead and are committed to continuing to do the hard work and celebrate the moments of joy along the way. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Electing Women Alliance, and we can’t think of a more fitting time to rededicate ourselves to our mission and model.
In that spirit, we are grateful to everyone who joined us in Washington, DC for our EWA Senate Swearing-In Celebration. We were joined by over 75 EWA members and friends from across the country and by many of the women who will be working in Congress on our behalf over the next two years: Sens. Tammy Baldwin, Lisa Blunt Rochester, Amy Klobuchar and Elissa Slotkin and Reps. Diana DeGette, Nikki Budzinski, and Lateefah Simon. It was powerful to celebrate these elected women, especially the candidates we supported in the battleground states that Trump carried and our non-incumbent women who we can now officially call Senator.
Your support this past cycle helped make their victories possible. If you joined us for the swearing-in celebration, or attended any of the elected officials’ parties, please send us your photos! You can click here to see a few official photos of our celebration.
As we look ahead to the 2025 and 2026 elections, the stakes couldn’t be higher. This year, we have two critical gubernatorial races: Abigail Spanberger in Virginia and Rep. Mikie Sherrill in New Jersey. We encourage groups to host both candidates as early as possible. Looking to 2026, we anticipate supporting strong women candidates in competitive gubernatorial races, at a time when Democratic leadership in the states will be critical. While the 2026 Senate map is challenging, there are two incumbent women to defend—Sens. Tina Smith in Minnesota and Jeanne Shaheen in New Hampshire—and we expect other opportunities to back non-incumbent women as well.
Stay tuned for more information throughout the year about our 10th anniversary celebrations, which will culminate at our 2025 EWA Convening in Washington DC in mid-October. Over the last 10 years, we have learned the power and value of building our political community. We look forward to celebrating and continuing to grow our EWA community as we recommit to the work of electing more women.
