About Us

The Electing Women Alliance is a national network of local giving groups that bring women together as a community to support women candidates. Our goal is to inspire intentional, informed giving to increase women’s political leadership.

Women leaders produce better outcomes across the spectrum because they bring their life experiences to policy making. But progress has been too slow and the U.S. lags dramatically behind other countries in women’s political leadership. The U.S. is currently ranked 79th in the world in the percentage of women in national office. There are currently only five women of color in the Senate and there has never been a Black women governor. We must do better.

Women make over 85 percent of household purchasing and consumer decisions—and yet women make up only 37 percent of political donors. This “political giving gender gap” continues to disadvantage women running for office since research shows that women candidates rely more heavily on women donors. Now more than ever, women need to participate in the political process and influence who represents us.

Our Unique Model

Some women’s political organizations recruit. Others train. We fund. But we do it differently, and our unique value is building local communities of informed, educated donors. Electing Women events are small gatherings that allow candidates—incumbents and non-incumbents—to engage in substantive, lively conversation about policy and politics with communities of women across the country. Women candidates rely on the Electing Women Alliance network when they launch their campaigns, knowing we have the infrastructure in place to mobilize quickly and provide critical early support.

Beyond focusing on educated, impactful giving, the Electing Women Alliance works to build strong donor communities in cities across the country. We take pride in the bonds we create through thoughtful conversations at our local events and on monthly Zooms with candidates and political experts. Through our giving groups, members have the opportunity to hear directly from candidates on the issues that matter to them most. We also work to help donors leverage their influence and direct conversations with policymakers on key issues. And perhaps most importantly, our members value the relationships created through our community.

Our Impact

Since our formation in 2016, Electing Women has raised more than $32 million for women candidates running for U.S. Senate, Governor, Vice President and President. We have groups in Austin, Boston, Denver, Illinois, Los Angeles, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, St. Louis, Vail, DC, Wisconsin and we are actively seeking opportunities to grow our network across the country.
