Join us May 15 for our Virginia Is for Women Zoom
Ten years ago, local giving groups in Denver, Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, and Los Angeles came together to form the Electing Women Alliance as you know it today.
The network formed to work toward a common goal—to provide women candidates with more financial support and women donors with more meaningful ways to get involved in political giving.
At the time, local groups mostly focused on statewide races: women candidates running for governor and US Senate, and the occasional presidential, vice presidential, or House candidate.
Now, as the Alliance and our power grows, we are encouraging groups to grow their impact down ballot. And we are starting with the 2025 off-year races in Virginia, where big wins will send the resounding battle cry Democrats need for 2026.
Some groups have already been flexing this muscle: Since 2020, Bay Area groups have raised nearly a half million dollars for their Shirley’s List initiative, which focuses on local candidates of color. And last cycle, local groups collectively raised more than $300,000 for candidates in critical races in Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, and Washington, among other states.
We are encouraging all members of Electing Women Alliance groups to join our May 15 ‘Virginia Is for Women’ Zoom benefiting 10 candidates for statewide and state legislative office in Virginia:
- First, please donate $250 or more to save your spot. Your donation will be split evenly among the 10 candidates on the slate, or you may customize among the candidates.
- Second, if you are a local group leader please forward this email to your members. If you have questions, reach out to our Partnerships and Down Ballot Manager Isez Roybal for more information.
Virginia Democrats have the chance this November to win back the governorship, lieutenant governorship, attorney general’s office, and to increase their two-seat state House majority. And we are not waiting to help women in the most competitive Virginia races build their warchests—because when we wait, women lose the money race.
So please give now to support these women and save your spot on May 15.
Thank you all for being on this journey with us. Here’s to 10 more years of growing women’s impact in the political giving space!
