The only political giving platform for
women candidates
The political donation marketplace is shifting, with campaigns and donors increasingly seeking alternatives to the dominant donation platforms. Here’s why you should use WomenCount:
A Clear Mission Supporting Women
- Originally founded in 2008 as a movement-building effort, WomenCount relaunched as a fundraising platform in 2015.
- Why? Women candidates are chronically underfunded, relying on more and smaller donations than their male counterparts.
- We carry this mission internally: Our platform was founded by women and is operated largely by women. And research by our team reflects experienced political judgment, not algorithms.
- Today, Electing Women Alliance and WomenCount are fully integrated, making us the only organization working to expand communities of women donors across the country in support of electing more women to office
Tailored Tech & Campaign Features
- Donations go directly to candidates, even for events supporting multiple candidates, rather than having to raise through a joint committee.
- Donations are easy to customize, including within the same slate.
- Compliance works the same as if the donation was directly from an individual to a candidate. Itemized donor information is provided.
- User log-in features allow saved personal information and payment methods to minimize friction at checkout. This information is not shared with other campaigns, candidates, or organizations.
- A candidate’s supporters can make their own account and slate, and track their team’s donations via source codes, email notification and other methods.
A Note on Fees
- Our not-for-profit model features a 4 percent flat-rate fee, comparable to ActBlue. These are required payment processing fees only. We don’t keep any additional fees. Operations are funded at-cost by outside funders.
WomenCount & Community
- PACs and other non-candidate entities can also use WomenCount, to raise for both themselves and their slate of candidates.
- Our site features Democratic women candidates from School Board to President, meaning you can raise for any combination of candidates.
- Once donors are engaged with our community, they are more likely to return and give again.
